This program focuses on welcoming students and breaking down the barriers to effective academic research. The activities are practical, hands-on, and designed to build confidence.

Core Activities & Workshops:

• The "Library Navigation" Guided Tours: Physical and virtual walkthroughs of the library layout, helping students locate physical collections, study zones, help desks, and self-service printing/scanning stations.
• Library Essentials & Account Setup: Quick sessions during induction week to help students activate their library cards, log into the off-campus proxy/VPN, and navigate the main search catalog.
• Introduction to Academic Integrity & Plagiarism: High-impact workshops defining plagiarism, teaching the ethics of source evaluation, and introducing the basics of paraphrasing to ensure academic honesty from day one.
• Foundational Reference Management: Beginner-friendly tutorials on setting up and using basic referencing tools (like Mendeley, EndNote and/or Zotero) to automatically generate bibliographies for undergraduate assignments.
• Effective Search Strategies: Workshops focused on moving beyond Google, teaching students how to use keywords, Boolean operators (AND, OR, NOT), and basic academic databases to find peer-reviewed articles.
